Go Bears Go 💛🐻🖤🏈CHAMPIONSHIP PICK!!!!!

This is Doug with Montana AA Prep Football. Here we are! Down to the last two teams! The brawl for it all! Only one can survive! As I have said, the season goes so fast. Wrestling has actually started. Flathead (9-3) makes the very long trek to Billings to take on number two seed West (11-1). Once again we have an Eastern conference team versus a Western conference team and we will have a new champion. I love it. Again last week I went 1-1 on my picks and am sitting at 56-20 on the season.

This is a rematch of week 3. An early season game that it seems the young Braves were not quite ready for yet. The Golden Bears prevailed 42-20. Are we to expect the same? The way I look at it is neither team has actually won this game yet. In other words it has not been played yet. Either team can win this game. It is going to be whomever overwhelms the moment rather than having the moment overwhelm them. This is something I preached to both my Son and daughter and it still serves them well. I feel like the team that gets up early will have a huge advantage in this game.

There is no doubt that the Braves are built to win in the post season and they are finally able to run the ball against good teams. Samson coaches exactly like he played with an intensity that inspires those around him to compete for him. I know many people that think that the Braves snuck up on the Hawks. Maybe true. Considering the number 8 seed played with Bozeman for a half that was the wakeup call or that was them being exposed. Here is a fact, the Braves are the lower seed and traveling across the state. That is not an advantage. If the Braves find a way to win this game then is last week really an upset? There are so many questions entering this game.

The Bears have a big advantage playing at home and they also know their opponents path to get to this game. Therefor there should be no surprises. Like most teams Coach Stanton has players playing both ways. This means the best players are on the field but they are on the field the whole game. The Bears line is big and athletic and has played well all season. This team wins games in all three phases of the game and is well coached in all three of those phases. This journey started last year after they were eliminated in the first round. Can the Golden Bears start fast and put the pressure on the Braves and take out that running game?

It has been since 1970 that the Braves last won a state title, which is a long drought. West has not had to wait as long but they have gone through some lean years. I expect this to be an electric atmosphere. My advice to both teams and their fans, enjoy the moment. Brave Nation, enjoy the ride down to Billings. Win or lose these memories will last a lifetime. Remember that this is the last time some of these kids will ever put on pads and play football. Congratulations to both teams for making it this far and thank you for all of the hard work of the players and the coaches and for giving us great football to talk about week after week.

I will go with the higher seed and the home team for my pick. I just feel the Bears will start fast.

Bears maul em! 42-22

This is the 118th Brawl of the Wild. I do know that the rivalry began in 1897 and that the Griz hold the advantage 72-39-5. Both teams enter with identical 6-4 records and are fighting for their post season lives. The Griz have lost to the Cats two straight years and it cost Stitt his job. They did not bring coach Hauck back to lose to the Cats. The Cats lead in the most important Category and that is they have the most players from the State of Montana. There are 46 in state Cat players and only 41 in state Griz players and in my opinion that is not enough but it is slowly improving. I tend to root for the players from Montana. I think that the advantage has to go to the Griz just being at home and knowing they have not won for two years.

Griz are the pick!! 31-17

The Fan picks last week were as follows.

Going 2-0 were Joe O’Mara, Mick Mueller, John Hinchey, Leslie Nyman and Tyrone Steed.

Going 1-1 were Sam Moore, Jacob Masters, Todd Lindsay, Tyler Leary, Dale Stoverud, Dianna Mac Donald, Daniel Scott, Dan Fisher, Karen Reese, Wes Wolf, Mike Towne, Gary Vik and Trevor Mac Donald.

Going 0-2 were, Jay DeWaters, Paul Bisom and Travis Johnston.

Leading with me on the season is Jacob Masters at 56-20.
